  1. Guest Accommodations - Duplicated on Wedding Website

    Members -

So many of you have already reached out regarding the appearance of duplication of your Guest Accommodations - Thank you for taking the time to let us know your feedback and what you are seeing on your website.

We recently made a change to the Accommodations page on Wedding Websites based on feedback we received from other couples and guests that they were having a hard time locating where to find the hotel accommodations in the scope of the website. Currently, you will see we are testing a few ways to make this more visible on websites for…

    Hi -

You’ve shared your feedback and we hear you – truly. After conversations with the Product Lead over our wedding website development, we have been assured that this team is working through the possible solutions to adjust and improve the appearance and function of the accommodations/ details tabs on your wedding websites.

The goal is still to create one specific area to manage your guest accommodations while still having some ability to personalize this feature. With this in mind, the Tech team knows that the biggest ask coming from our Couples is that there should not be any duplicate information appearing on the website under multiple tabs.

While we will not be rolling this back to how it was before and we know that many of you still frustrated that your site is going to appear a bit different than when you originally published the site, we do want…

  2. choice

It would be great if the Meal Choices (Optional) could be a free form field. We don't have meal choices, but we will have multiple shuttles. I wish I could enter in Shuttle Time for a title and list the options. This way we have a better understanding of how many shuttles and when. It's a pretty simple back-end change.

  3. Combine RSVPs for Events

Collect RSVP for Wedding and other events (Welcome Party, etc) in one place. Currently, I don't think people will understand they need to do both. Also, there should be a place to clearly collect dietary restrictions. Even better, let me word it...Our wedding is at an Aquarium and we want to specifically know of any shellfish allergies or other dietary needs.

I really appreciate you taking the time to give these details. While we do have the ability for you to collect RSVPs for multiple guests in one place, and to ask your guests about allergies/meal choices/restrictions, it is apparent it is not as visible as we would like it to be. We will be taking this under advisement so we can make these features more user friendly.

  4. More same-*** couple inclusive

I find this website so helpful with budgeting and timelines! However, I wish there was a feature that would allow the userface to cater towards the genders of the couple. When signing up, I entered information stating that my role is the bride and my fiance's role is the bride but all language and features on the website are still geared toward straight couples. For example, I find it difficult to use the budget feature which assumes bridal attire and groom attire.

  5. Fix these obvious problems. This is very frustrating and I feel forced into **** I don’t want at this point

We have already done all planning and are ready to go in 24 days. No one can get onto the website and I’m having to add them myself for rsvps. This is very annoying. Further, they can’t even search on the knot for us because they can’t find us. I would also love to actually be able to see my guest list without being referred to the app. I don’t care about planning and more. I want to see my guests and to see who is coming or not Bt I keep getting forced into the app to do so.…

  6. Charity Choices

    To whom this may concern,

I notice there are pro-choice organizations but no pro-life equivalent organizations as charity to be selected to support. I would love to see The Knot branch out and add equivalents instead of being skewed with certain charities that are secular.

Is there a way to recommend a certain organization? I work at one of the largest non-profit pregnancy resource centers in Texas and was trying to find it as a charity or one of similar nature to support my passion.

Thank you for your attention in this matter.

    Thank you,
    Rachel

Thank you for reaching out. We do an annual review of the charities on our list and we anticipate doing this again toward the end of 2018. I will mention that we have tried to add a broader range of charities and those that might fall into line with what you were hoping to find include National Right To Life, Samaritans Purse and Catholic Charities USA.

Feel free to email us your suggested charities at help@theknot.com. We take all suggestions into consideration during our annual review.

  7. Personal Reminder Emails

    Hi,

Just a suggestion – as things move more and more toward technology, it's important that we do not forget the older generation. As a young person, I want to use technology and I feel that if you can sign onto FB, then you can sign onto The Knot. However, many people are used to paper invites with all the information. If The Knot and other wedding websites are pushing for paperless invites and more use of their site, there needs to be flexibility when it comes to communicating with guests. I know The Knot sends out reminder emails, but…

I am definitely with you on this one. We want to make sure each couple has the ability to message their guests as often as they need, knowing that some guests will need more and others less reminders along the way.

When you are in the admin page for your wedding website you are given the opportunity to send an email to your guests. You can enter their email address and send out any note you choose. You can pick one or all of the email addresses you have in your guest list, and this way you can control how often each guest gets a message from you and the details they need for your event.

It sounds like we need to make this feature more visible and maybe a bit more intuitive – so thank you for calling this out. I will be sure to let the Product Team…

  9. Additional Theme Customizations

Several aspects of the website theme could be more customizable, such as font capitalization (instead of all caps), edit size/type of "and" between names (personally I'd prefer a fancy ampersand), edit size/type of countdown (the default is so tiny), and the option for social media icons on the home page (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc).

2018 is going to be our year for more customization in our Wedding Website themes. This is still a work in progress, but we have done some user testing and are narrowing down our top features that need some love. Thank you for the feedback! It always helps to hear from members!

    Enjoy!

  10. More complete registries

I think that if you add a registry manually, guests should be able to see all items in their entirety not just the websites that sponsor the knot. I added restoration hardware today and it just shows up at the bottom like the other ones I have. No one looks at these unless they are tech savvy. the ones that are tech savvy cannot afford to buy us a rug on restoration hardware. I would like for a complete list to be added and new items should be at the top. The logos of the places were we are registered…

I truly appreciate you sending in this feedback. Right now our partnered retailers do have a contract with The Knot that allows us to show their logo, put their placement above other retailers and link directly to their site items. The manually added registries do not have this connection and yes, it is a bit more daunting for guests to see them as ‘equal’. We continue to work with retailers to ask them to partner with The Knot and we will definitely use this feedback as we continue to offer this to retailers.

If you want all registries to have equal weight, there is a way to unlink everyone and just add the URLs in the registry page. This does not look as clean overall, as there are no logos, but it does put all registries on equal ground. Let us know if you choose to do this (newtools@theknot.com

  11. Be able to change search radius for vendors

I am having issues searching for photographers, each time I try to search for Green Bay WI I get results for photographers in Milwaukee and Chicago which is not helpful at all.

I am sorry this is not coming up with results closer to you. One suggestion I do have is to try filtering one item at a time. For example, when you are in the Marketplace, just search by radius and then choose ‘apply’. Then you can go back and add to search by Best of Weddings, or the $, $$, $$$, $$$$ ratings, then choose apply again. Our search feature likes to only search one thing at a time, and this may help actually find results in your area.

  12. Phone numbers

The app thinks I have a wrong number but the number is correct.

I can't do anything else in the app until I delete the correct number.

  13. Why does the checklist include "change your name"?

While the checklist is helpful, I found it frustrating (and a bit presumptuous) that you would include "change your name" as a checklist item. I'm not passing judgment either way but there are plenty of couples that don't follow this practice. By including it, the website looks like it's taking a stance on this topic.

Alternatively, you could have a questionnaire that a couple fills out upon signing up where you flat-out ask about name changes. Then you could include this item in the checklist for those couples that plan to change names.

We really appreciate you taking time to send in this suggestion. The checklist is intended, as you likely see, to be a list that will encompass more tasks than one couple is ever going to truly need. We definitely know that the differences between each couple will create a need for different items and priorities.

That being said, the suggestion to have the name change as part of our onboarding questions is a great one. I have passed this along to our Checklist team and we will definitely look at this. Until then, we hope that couples will continue to move items they don’t need off their lists, and add other items to their list from our full list when they do choose.

    xoxo,
    Keri

  14. prenup

    Hi The Knot!

I have loved using your service for my wedding checklist r all my wedding needs as it has helped me stay on track as well as very organized. I need notice one thing missing on the checklist that I deem is extremely important to have - a Prenuptial Agreement. I know it is an uncomfortable topic for a lot of couples but it is a conversation that needs to happen and it's important to include in your checklist so couples can begin the process far enough in advance. Of course not everyone needs to complete it, but…

  15. Be more supportive of "legal paperwork now, ceremony forthcoming" Brides.

I've never seen more vitriolic, self-important Brides anywhere else on the web than here on the Knot, spitting "expertise" at BRIDES who are in fact (for a number of reasons-- military, immigration, health, etc) finishing paperwork prior to the official ceremony. I find it disgusting and shocking that the Knot supports such exclusive, "mean girl attitudes" in a billion dollar industry where MANY brides are now having to do just that-- get the legality squared away before the sentimentality can occur. One such post was pinned at the top of the forum, belittling such necessities as "pretty princess days" as…

I really appreciate you taking time to send over your thoughts and frustrations. While I am not familiar with the exact forum board you are referring to, I do understand that some of our boards are still a work in progress. We have made great strides this year to make sure our members are using the report button when they see things that are inappropriate or something that might violate our terms of service. It sounds like you are describing situations and user replies that might fall into that category.

We are trying to make sure the forum boards are open to all viewpoints, but if it has been pushed too far, please do report the action and we can at least investigate to make sure there are no violations in play.

I do hope you realize that while these are posted on our site through the Community page, The…

  16. Update your Tipping cheat sheet!!

Tipping reception Staff and anyone who works your wedding is not optional. It is protocol. This is false info.

When you see this on a contract it is only because catering companies, restaurants, rental companies, florists, planners, etc. do not pay their employees very much money. And they want you to pay the rest for them.

The Knot needs to make it known to people outside of the industry that it is industry protocol to tip all staff. Unless they ruined your day, gratuity is expected. It doesn't have to be a lot, but it needs to be something.

  17. Did you email TheBump last week?

    Dear Bump Members,

We recently discovered that part of our email system was down for about 10 days, which resulted in the loss of many incoming emails. We apologize if your recent email has not been addressed by our Customer Experience Team yet. Our Tech team was able to resolve the issue with our email system earlier this week, and we have recovered a list of email addresses that tried to contact us during this down time. However, the content of each email was not able to be retrieved.

We are so sorry for the delay in dealing with your…
