Do not completely disable the old system
For those of us that are still in the process of planning our upcoming wedding using the original knot website, we should still continue to have the option to have access to everything that we originally created. I am absolutely extremely disappointed and will not ever recommend the knot website to any future brides due to the frustration this has caused me. I worked so ******* my website and guest list for over a year (our engagement is 2 years) to not be able to use it and edit it anymore. We relied on the website for our guests to be able to access all of the details related to our wedding, and now I can't even edit it anymore. To have to create the website all over again is absolutely ridiculous and unreasonable, especially when the original website design you have chosen is no longer an option. So now our wedding guests will not have updated information because I am unable to edit the site. Before making the switch to the new guest list manager, I exported a copy for myself because I knew something would go wrong with the transfer. The transfer of course deleted all of my apt numbers for the addresses, and the new format is not user friendly at all for addressing invitations, especially if guests have different last names, as they are no longer grouped together. The excel file that I saved for myself, also deleted the apt numbers during the file export. A very kind customer service rep sent me a recovered address list with the apt numbers on them, however the names of the parties invited were all messed up, only showing the name of the "party leader" several times within the same party, overriding other guests' names in the same party. Needless to say, I spent even more time fixing the list. Very disappointing experience with The Knot.
I really appreciate your honest feedback. Making any technology transition is hard and we have found that this one was a pain point for quite a few members. We really tried to help by starting the notifications last September so everyone had a chance to get their information, but it sounds like that was not enough lead time indeed.
Let us know if you need anything else in the meantime and we can help.
