Add Text Alignment to Wedding Websites
Currently, most of our Wedding Website designs are not offering the ability to align text in a custom fashion. We would love to hear from our Couples that are designing their sites about this feature. Let us know if you enjoy having the alignment decided for you or if you still see a need for us to allow this customization. We need your feedback.
Thank you for taking time to give your feedback.
I would love the ability to be able to edit text, change fonts (I loathe some of them), change the colors to match my wedding, move the decals around, etc. I am debating which site to make my website on and this ability would have sold me. Please allow/bring back the edits!
I really wish that we were able to customize where we wanted our text. I have had such a hard time finding a picture that won’t look weird with text covering our faces. Or just have more options without the text on the pictures on the website. I want a simple modern black and white and those all have text on the picture.
Please bring text alignment back and the option for italics and bold in the event description boxes. PLEASE!!! Creating a website on the knot and has been the most frustrating experience.
Center aligned text is the worst design choice when it comes to prose. If the user isn't allowed to format text, the default should at least be justified. I have been happy with the Knot so far, but this bothers me enough I would have chosen a different platform had I known.
I would not have used the knot if I had known this was going to be an issue. This should be a simple selection based on the type of text being used and the desired design of the page.
Please allow for alignment selection on all pages, I don't know why this would have been a feature someone thought to remove from your pages.
When I checked on my web site today, I saw that the text throughout the entire site had been centered and looked jumbled/unattractive. (When I created the web site, most of the text was left-justified.) I reached out to customer service, who said that the option to left-justify text is being eliminated on Knot web sites. Losing this feature would hurt the design of my web site. Large blocks of text that are center-justified are difficult to read/look unprofessional.
First, please please please fix this!
Second, for everyone suffering like me, if you make custom sections you can work around the garbage formatting in the pre-made sections.
You say that you're "always trying to improve the Wedding Website experience for couples." Well based on the 85 comments below, what couples would like is for you to bring the text alignment back. Honestly, what are you even doing?? Does anyone at The Knot even work?? Do you actually CARE about the customer experience like you say you do? If so, then LISTEN to us and bring this feature back right away. That is the "improvement" we want!! If you have experts working on your wedding websites it CANNOT be that difficult to bring this feature back. I am so BEYOND disappointed in the company.

It's very frustrating - the backend's functionality has changed since we created our website and now the one section that is not aligned like the rest just looks very weird. We lost the ability to edit certain areas and it doesn't make any sense as to why you would take them away! Why not make it as easy as possible for couples to make basic edits to their website?? Who is making these decisions?
Yes - it's very beneficial and necessary to have text alignment as an option. I regret not looking into this before printing the website on my save the dates. Please add this functionality back. Many sections are unreadable with center-justified text.
It's very frustrating that the button to justify text exists, and that it doesn't work. If you're not going to offer it, don't make it look like you do.

Probably the worst look on our website is having the pictures of our wedding party in the center with their names left aligned underneath them. Not sure who made that design decision, but it should be fixed immediately.
Please change the functionality back to make it be able to center the details. This was correct a month ago, now it looks stupid on the left while everything else is centered.

Just started a website, adding information about travel. On the editing page, everything looks good. I have options for alignment and they seem to work. When I preview the site, it is all centered, regardless of which alignment I chose earlier.
Is this a bug in just the preview area?

This was previously an option, but then it was removed. For the all the weddings I have been too, I have never viewed other couples website's on my phone, I have always used my computer. So to use the reasoning of removing the ability to add code to make the app more mobile friendly is unfortunate.
I would like to see this re-added as an option as I am now not happy with my website because there are parts that no longer flow together.
My fiance doesn't care about design things, but when he saw that we couldn't center information under all the other centered information, he thought it looked like trash. Why would you create a website like this that doesn't allow the use to customize the look. You have all other information centered but not the details we add? Who thought that was a good idea?
In the my story section the formatting doesn't actually apply when viewing the website - including alignment, bold.
I was able to bold and center my text last month, but now it is off to the left and looks like absolute trash!! I would have used Zola had I known we couldn't edit our own text. The email I got back from The Knot Support said "We want to make sure your site appears the best on both desktop and mobile for your guests." but this is NOT making sure it appears best!!!! It looks ridiculous. If all of these people are complaining about it, why not add it as a feature! I work at a marketing firm and we are constantly updating our software so people can edit their own websites as they see fit! And it's incredibly easy to add this function!!
Which designs allow custom text alignment? Or are there any that use the same alignment throughout the site?

I am okay with having the alignment decided for me if the whole page is exactly the same. Having one section that is aligned to the left while the rest of the page is aligned in the center looks really weird. It can be a page by page design, but definitely at least keeping the entire page aligned the same way would be the best option! The entire "The Wedding" section of my website is aligned in the center, except for the "Event Description", which I only put a few words in, so it is those few words sitting off to the left of everything at the bottom. Looks really weird to the eye. If the save the dates hadn't already gone out, I would delete that section from my website, but now I don't want to mess with it, so as not to confuse people who have already visited the site beforehand.
if we didn't already send out invitations with our wedding website we would have created one on a different platform. it make the website look like trash. it's really that big of a deal.
