WHAT'S THE KNOT GIFTS BACK?

The Knot Gifts Back is a seamless way to support a charitable organization every time you receive a wedding gift—at no cost to you or your guests. Once you select your choice of 100+ participating organizations, The Knot will donate a percentage of the purchase price of every gift bought off your registry on TheKnot.com to that organization.

A Charity Registry gives you the ability to ask your guests to give to your selected charity in lieu of giving you a wedding gift. 

HOW CAN I JOIN THE KNOT GIFTS BACK PROGRAM?

You can join The Knot Gifts Back program by selecting "Choose My Charity" at the top. Click on a charity's name to learn more about their organization. Once you are ready to decide, click "select" and then save. After this, The Knot will contribute a donation to the charity of your choice any time a user purchases a gift for you through your registry profile or wedding website on TheKnot.com.

HOW DO I REGISTER FOR GIFTS AT PARTICIPATING RETAILERS?
You can register at a participating retailer either online or in-store. If you create your registry in-store, you need to make sure to claim the registry on your TheKnot.com account so we know to count all gifts purchased from it toward your charity donations. Click here to see if we have all of your registries on file or find your in-store registry and add it to your account.


WHAT IF I HAVE A REGISTRY WITH STORES THAT ARE NOT PARTICIPATING RETAILERS?

We're sorry, but only gifts purchased from Participating Retailers through TheKnot.com or your wedding website will count towards the Charity Donation Program. Click here to start a registry with a Participating Retailer.

CAN I CHOOSE MORE THAN ONE CHARITY FOR THE KNOT GIFTS BACK PROGRAM?
You may only choose one charitable organization as the recipient of The Knot funded donations, which are contributed for each eligble gift a guest purchases from your registry profile or wedding website on TheKnot.com.


HOW CAN I CHANGE MY SELECTED CHARITY?
After you've selected a charity, your selection will appear under the header on the Charity page. Click the pencil icon on the top right of the Charity logo to edit your selection.


IF I CHANGE MY SELECTED CHARITY MID-WAY THROUGH PLANNING, WHICH CHARITY WILL RECEIVE MY DONATIONS?
The Knot contributes the total donation amount to your selected charity 6 months after the wedding date. Only the charity selection listed on your account at that time will receive the donation. Changing the charity selection mid-way through planning will not affect this.


CAN I HAVE MORE THAN ONE GIFT REGISTRY IN THIS PROGRAM?
Yes. You can register with as many of the participating retailers as you would like and we will make a donation whenever a guest purchases a gift from your registry profile or wedding website on TheKnot.com.


IF I ALREADY HAVE A REGISTRY WITH A PARTICIPATING RETAILER CAN I STILL HAVE A PERCENTAGE DONATED TO MY CHOSEN CHARITY?

Yes, just make sure that the registry is part of your TheKnot.com account so we can keep track of the donations. Click here to see if we have all of your registries on file or find your in-store registry now and add it to your account.


HOW CAN MY FIANCÉ AND I LET FRIENDS AND FAMILY KNOW THAT WE ARE PARTICIPATING IN THIS CHARITY PROGRAM?

Share your wedding website, featuring your registries with your guests. You can print your wedding website URL on your Save-the-Dates and invitation inserts – a tactful way to share where you are registered. Click here to create a wedding website.


You can also tell your family and bridal party to send everyone to TheKnot.com to look up your registries and/or wedding website in our Couples Search. Remember, TheKnot.com will make a donation when anyone uses TheKnot.com or your wedding website to find your registry and buy you a gift through our sites. We will not make a donation for gifts purchased in-store, or directly via the retailer's own website.

The Knot Funded Donations:


HOW ARE DONATIONS GENERATED?

Each time someone uses TheKnot.com or your wedding website on TheKnot.com to buy you a gift from one of the registries that we know belong to you (i.e. listed on your account), we will make a donation to your selected charity. We work with Pledgeling (a national nonprofit organization) to pre-screen the charities that are included in this program and to send the donations to each charity. There is absolutely no cost to you or to those who buy wedding gifts for you. TheKnot.com pays for the entire donation as our way of saying thank you for using our services.


HOW MUCH IS DONATED TO MY SELECTED CHARITY?

Your charity will receive a greater donation from us as more gifts are purchased for you through TheKnot.com or your wedding website. The actual donation is based on a percent of the registry gifts purchased through TheKnot.com or your wedding website (excluding taxes and shipping), up to 3%.


ARE ANY FEES DEDUCTED FROM THE DONATED PERCENTAGE?

No. One-hundred percent of the donation amounts listed above will be sent to your selected charity. TheKnot.com pays separate additional fees for each gift to cover the costs to administer this program.


WILL THE DONATIONS BE TAX DEDUCTIBLE TO GIFT GIVERS?

No. Since TheKnot.com is making the donation, neither the couple nor the gift giver can claim it as a tax deduction.


WHEN WILL THE CHARITY RECEIVE THE DONATION?

Six months after the wedding, your charity will receive a check for all of the donations generated through TheKnot.com or your wedding website on TheKnot.com. Since wedding gifts are often purchased after the wedding, we wait six months to give your charity the chance to reach the highest donation percentage possible. No donations will be made for gifts purchased beyond six months after your wedding date.
